Welcome to Freedom to Grow!

Hello There! This is Georgiann Manz welcoming you to Freedom to Grow!

So what is Freedom to Grow all about?

Freedom – “the state of not being imprisoned or enslaved,” a dictionary explains. As a Christian, that’s the life most people desire – free to be who God has made us to be – not hindered and enjoying new life in Christ (John 8:36)

Grow – “to spring up and develop to maturity.” Also the heart desire of most – to fulfill every aspect of a mature Christian life and experience – “abundant life” Jesus came to give us (John 10:9-10).

Freedom and spiritual growth and maturity were two things I really struggled with during my early Christian years even though we lived a very active “church” life. My Christian life looked more like a “yo yo” – some days up, many days down – definitely not the abundant life described in John 10.

Then I had the opportunity to read a little book, Freedom to Grow, written by a dear pastor friend that changed my life as he explained a regular “quiet time” with the Lord through the study of the Bible brings spiritual maturity and stability essential to the life of a believer. Wow! I could be free! I could mature spiritually and I now saw the pathway to make that happen!

About that same time (eons ago it seems) I was challenged to read through the Bible in a year. Didn’t think that was possible but I was amazed at the outcome! Talk about freedom and growth? I experienced both that year in a way I could not have imagined.

So I write this blog to encourage others to experience the freedom to grow spiritually through consistent Bible study – especially by using the tool of reading through the Bible using a study guide to keep us on track.

I am not ashamed to say that without my time with the Lord in His Word, my life would be a wreck – or at the very least, I would not experience the awesome life in Christ He died to give us.

The proof in Christian maturity is in how you are able to handle the storms and pressures of life. Jesus told His disciples in Matthew 7, if you build your house (your life) on the Rock, Jesus Christ, and the truth of His Word, though storms may assail you, your house (your life) will stand!

“And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not; for it was founded upon a rock.” Matthew 7:25

That’s the house I want to build – the life I want to build. One that will be stable no matter the conditions of life.

I have experienced storms – many. And I haven’t handled every situation perfectly. This past year, we have undergone the most tumultuous storm we could have imagined on several fronts – our ministry and our health have been assaulted by treacherous waves and winds – but we stand by the grace of God. Without our solid foundation in Christ, we would not be in the place we are today.

You can be “free to grow” and experience the transforming power of God’s Word living and active in your life. (Hebrews 4:12) You can “grow up in all things into Him who is the head – Christ.” Ephesians 4:15

Are you ready to grow? Make a commitment to be a disciple of Christ – one who is “disciplined” to spend time with the Lord through studying His Word. Once you start this journey, you will experience a realization of life in Christ you have never known and will never want to let go!

If you send me your email, I will be glad to forward to you our PDF Chronological Bible Reading Guide.  As I have the opportunity I will write a perspective on the study of the Bible or life and how the Bible applies to it all!  The Bible is beautiful, fascinating, supernatural, life changing!  Experience it for yourself!

Blessings to you readers!

Georgiann, So enjoyed reading your blog about your dad and Father’s Day. So deep and meaningful! I plan to read your blog often because it is so inspirational! We met – years ago – out at Tom’s parents home with Donna and Steve. I am sure I saw you again at Chad and Brian’s weddings in later years also. You look beautiful in your picture – just how I remember you; you have changed very little! Kathy Meinert

Hello Kathy – of course I remember you and I do remember that day at the Manz’ home – Tom had just left for his second cruise overseas. Thank you, so much, for reading and sending your comment.
